About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from Zidarich’s own vineyards in the communes of Duino, Aurisina, Prepotto and Trieste. The vines are 10–20 years old and grow at 260–280 m above sea level, on red soils rich in karst limestone, with southeastern exposure.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand during the first ten days of October. After destemming, they macerate on their skins and ferment in open vats without temperature control, with daily punch-downs. Malolactic fermentation takes place in large oak casks. The wine is bottled without stabilization or filtration.
Ageing
The wine ages for two years in Slavonian oak barrels of various sizes.
Tasting profile
Complex and fresh, with excellent balance.
Label / history
Annual production is limited to approximately 2,000 bottles.
