Primitivo di Manduria Dolce Naturale
1 cantina e 2 vini. The sweet Primitivo of Manduria comes from the provinces of Taranto and Brindisi, across two landscapes. The Ionian arc, from the coast up to the foot of the Murge, around Carosino, San Giorgio Ionico, Lizzano, Sava, Maruggio and Manduria, rises in steps — a staircase of scarps left by the sea advancing and retreating since the middle Pliocene — to a coast of dunes. Further east lies the Salento, around Avetrana, Oria and San Pietro in Bevagna. Winters are mild, summers hot, and about 650 mm of rain falls mostly in winter. Continua a leggere ↓

Primitivo di Manduria Dolce Naturale in breve
The wine is 100 per cent Primitivo, grown as low Apulian bush vines or on trellises that keep the fruit no more than a metre off the ground. The grapes may shrivel on the vine or be dried on racks or in crates, outdoors or in rooms; enrichment is forbidden, and the finished wine must keep at least 50 grams of sugar a litre with a total potential alcohol of at least 16 per cent. It may not be sold before the first of June after the harvest.
Modern Primitivo owes much to Giuseppe Musci, director of the anti-phylloxera consortium of Bari in the early twentieth century, who wrote on the "Primativo di Gioia" in 1919. The sweet style was recognised within the Primitivo di Manduria DOC in 1974 and became a DOCG in 2011.
