Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The wine comes from the Salento peninsula, the southernmost part of Puglia, the "heel of the Italian boot". The peninsula's shape means the Mediterranean Sea surrounds it on three sides, which gives a mild climate and suits the ripening of the grapes. The text attributes the wine's distinctive style to this terroir.
Grapes
Negroamaro is the leading red grape of the area. Its name comes from the Latin niger and the Greek mavros, both meaning "black".
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in the last ten days of September, when fully ripe. They are gently pressed and fermented at a controlled, optimal temperature.
Ageing
The wine ages in oak barrels for at least 6 months.
Tasting profile
Velvety and warming, with a rich character. Ageing in oak gives it a velvety texture and complexity.
Label / history
The wine is named after "Nostalgia Canaglia", the song with which Al Bano and Romina Power took third place at Sanremo in 1987. The song inspired the wine years later.
