Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow on the Salento peninsula, at the southern tip of Italy’s “heel.” The soils combine limestone and clay with sand, and the nearby Mediterranean Sea helps preserve natural freshness alongside ripe southern character.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested during the first ten days of September. The must ferments in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine ages for 24 months, including at least nine months in oak barrels.
Tasting profile
Deep and warming in character, with a velvety texture and mature layers of flavour.
Label / history
Before leaving his home village to become a singer, Al Bano promised his father that he would return and build a winery dedicated to him. He fulfilled that promise in 1973. The name “La Riserva di Al Bano dal 1973” presents the wine as a personal tribute to his father, referred to as the “wise old man.”
