Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow in Salento, Puglia, on 75-year-old vines.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested almost two weeks later than usual to allow further ripening and flavour and aroma development. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine ages for eight months in oak barrels.
Label / history
Platone takes its name from the ancient Greek philosopher Plato, who called wine “milk for old men” and said that Dionysus gave it as a remedy for the gloom of old age. The wine received gold medals at Mondial Bruxelles and Enolidico Nazionale di Pramaggiore, the Diploma di Gran Menzione Vinitaly in 2001–2001, and Vini d’Italia honours at the Cinque Grappoli Duemila Vini competition in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.
