Questo vino

Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from the Tenuta del Cabreo vineyards on the hills of Panzano, at 450 m above sea level.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented in stainless-steel tanks at 28 °C.

Ageing

The wine spends at least 12 months in 500 L oak tonneaux, followed by six months of maturation in bottle in the winery’s cellars.

Label / history

The first vintage was harvested in 2006.

The Folonari family’s winemaking history began with Fratelli Folonari in the late 18th century. In 1912, Italo Folonari, Ambrogio’s grandfather, and his brother Francesco purchased the Tuscan company Ruffino, which produced Chianti in straw-covered bottles. The family sold Fratelli Folonari in the late 1960s and shifted from predominantly table-wine production towards estate-bottled wines. In 2000, Ambrogio left Ruffino and established Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari with his son.
