Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from estate vineyards at Tenuta di Nozzole in Greve, in the Chianti area, at 350 m above sea level. The vines are planted at a density of 3,000–3,500 plants per hectare.
Grapes
The Sangiovese grapes are selected for this wine.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in the first half of October. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 28 °C, followed by 15 days of maceration with yeast. Malolactic fermentation follows in the same tanks at 22–23 °C.
Ageing
The wine matures for 14–16 months in barrels, divided equally between Slavonian and French oak. It then rests in bottle for at least six months in the estate cellars.
Tasting profile
The 2016 has an impressive aroma and an elegant, balanced, fruit-forward palate.
Vintage notes
In Tuscany, the 2016 growing season produced exceptionally high-quality grapes, though yields were lower than usual. The summer was dry and hot, with cool nights that enabled slow ripening and full maturity. Rain at the end of August brought freshness to the wines.
