Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from different parts of the Chianti zone.
Vinification
The grapes were destemmed and pressed at the winery. The juice went into stainless steel tanks, where alcoholic fermentation and maceration lasted 10–12 days at 28 °C. Malolactic fermentation followed in November.
Ageing
The wine was aged in stainless steel tanks. The DOCG rules require at least 9 months of ageing, including two months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Fruity, with hints of oak.
Serving and pairing
Suited to meat and flavourful aged cheeses.
Label / history
Santa Cristina Chianti Superiore was first made from the 2006 harvest. The producer, Antinori, traces its history to 1385 and is led by Marquis Piero Antinori, of the family's 26th generation.
