Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards are distributed across the plains and slopes of the Province of Gorizia at an average altitude of 60 metres. Deep soils combine Eocene sandstone with pebble-rich alluvial deposits and reflect the uplift of ancient seabeds around 50 million years ago. The vines were planted from 2000 at 5,500 plants per hectare and are trained to single Guyot and spurred cordon. The 2025 yield was 85 quintals per hectare, with harvest in the last ten days of August.
Grapes
Chardonnay.
Vinification
The gently pressed must undergoes static settling for 24–48 hours. Alcoholic fermentation takes place on the clear must at 15–17°C for approximately 15 days. Most of the wine ferments in stainless-steel tanks, while 20% ferments in second-use barriques. Malolactic fermentation is prevented.
Ageing
The wine rests for five months on fine lees, periodically stirred back into suspension.
Technical data
The 2025 wine contains 12.5% alcohol by volume.
Tasting profile
The 2025 Chardonnay is an intense straw yellow with delicate green highlights. Its broad, harmonious bouquet layers white fig, apple and mandarin with white peach and refined floral nuances. Soft and enveloping on the palate, it has good structure and a pleasant sense of freshness and acidity. Toasted bread and lime shape the long, persistent finish.
Serving and pairing
Suitable as an aperitif and with white meats, cheeses, boiled meats and light stews. It also accompanies stuffed pasta filled with white meat and cheese.
Vintage notes
The 2025 growing season featured a mild, even spring with average temperatures of 18–20°C and approximately 250 mm of evenly distributed rain in April and May. Sunny periods alternated with timely rainfall during summer, supporting balanced ripening. Daytime highs of 28–32°C and nighttime temperatures near 15°C encouraged aromatic and phenolic development. The grapes reached optimal ripeness with an average pH of 3.1–3.3, and the estate’s harvest commenced in the second ten days of August, slightly ahead of average.
