Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown in Montalcino.
Grapes
A blend of Sangiovese and Merlot.
Vinification
Before fermentation, the grapes undergo cold maceration for 48 hours at 16 °C in an anaerobic environment to prevent premature oxidation of the must. The temperature is then raised, and alcoholic fermentation proceeds for 12–13 days at 27–28 °C. Malolactic fermentation follows.
Ageing
The wine rests in stainless-steel tanks for three months after malolactic fermentation.
Tasting profile
Approachable in character.
Label / history
Giovanni Colombini developed the wine through years of research and experimentation with grapes grown in Montalcino. Its name honours Bruscone, a free-spirited gentleman who lives in the woods near the Barbi estate. The first vintage was released in 1969.
