Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The selected fruit comes from the 5.7-hectare Vigna del Fiore, one of the oldest and southernmost vineyards in Brunello. Grapes have been cultivated there on stony soils since 1500. Its exposure and soil composition contribute elegance, finesse, harmony and complexity.
Grapes
The grapes are selected before vinification.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness and carefully sorted at the winery. They undergo cold maceration, followed by fermentation at a controlled 27–28 °C for 16–19 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place partly in barriques and partly in Slavonian oak casks.
Ageing
The wine matures for at least two years in small and medium-sized casks before being transferred to larger casks. It then rests for a further four months in bottle in the winery’s cellars.
Tasting profile
Elegant, fine, harmonious and complex, with excellent structure. It needs time to open fully, although it can also show appealing qualities when young.
Label / history
First produced in 1981.
