Vineyard and terroir
Arzenhof occupies a hillside at 250–390 m above the western shore of Lake Kaltern. The southeast-sloping morainic talus cone contains calcareous gravel, porphyry and quartz sand with sufficient loam. The site is influenced by a Mediterranean microclimate. The 25-year-old vines are trained to Guyot and Pergola and yield 40 hl/ha.
Grapes
Lagrein.
Vinification
Spontaneous fermentation takes place in open vessels, followed by 20 days of skin maceration. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation occurs in barriques at the end of October. The wine is bottled with light filtration.

Sixteen months in small barrels, with one racking. Barriques include 50% new barrels.
