Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from the Höfl unterm Stein farm in Sella, a hamlet above Tramin, at 500 m. Calcareous, clay-rich soils give the wine firm structure and depth while preserving vivid, clearly defined acidity. The vines are trained to Guyot, are 15–25 years old and yield 50 hl/ha.

Grapes

Sauvignon, Riesling and Incrocio Manzoni.

Vinification

Riesling and Incrocio Manzoni ferment in stainless-steel tanks. Sauvignon ferments partly in stainless steel and partly in large oak barrels. After maturation, the components are assembled and bottled.

Ageing

Six months on the fine lees.

Technical data

Alcohol: 13.5%. Acidity: 7.1 g/l. Residual sugar: 2.5 g/l. Ageing potential: 6–8 years.

Tasting profile

Bright yellow with greenish-golden reflections. Ripe peach, pineapple, passion fruit and a touch of gooseberry shape the aromatic profile. The palate is vibrant and precise, with juicy acidity, a fine mineral texture and a persistent citrus-led finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 8–10 °C. Suitable as an aperitif and with light starters, Mediterranean antipasti, delicate fish, seafood, and fresh vegetarian preparations accented with herbs or citrus.
