Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from west-facing estate vineyards in Verduno, at 420 m above sea level. The soils are limestone and silt. Planting density is 4,700 vines per hectare, and the vines have an average productive age of eight years.
Vinification
The grapes are usually harvested in mid-October. Fermentation and maceration take place for 10 days in French oak barrels at controlled temperatures, with daily pump-overs, followed by malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine first spends 10 months in the oak barriques in which malolactic fermentation took place, followed by about 10 months in 35 hl French and Slovenian oak casks. It is usually bottled in late spring and then rests in the cellar for at least six months.
Label / history
The wine was first released with the 1989 vintage.
