Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The Nebbiolo comes from vineyards in the municipalities of Roero, planted at 380 m above sea level with southern exposure. The soils are predominantly sandy and rich in mineral salts.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo.
Vinification
The grapes macerate on their skins for 21 days in 54 hL stainless-steel vats. Two manual pump-overs are performed each day. Once alcoholic fermentation is complete, the wine is racked into stainless-steel tanks, where malolactic fermentation finishes.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months in a 45 hL barrel made from French Allier oak. It rests for a further six months in bottle before release.
Technical data
It is bottled in an amber-coloured Burgundy bottle with an elongated neck, made exclusively for Scarpa and bearing the winery trademark embossed in the glass. Formats are 0.75 L and 1.5 L.
Tasting profile
Medium-deep ruby red. The bouquet is intensely floral, led by violet and supported by red-fruit notes. The palate is medium-bodied and fresh, with fine, elegant tannins. The balance between tannin and freshness gives the wine a linear profile.
Serving and pairing
Pair with Piedmontese fritto misto, risotto, game, lighter meat dishes, Piedmontese cured meats or agnolotti ai plin. Its ageing potential exceeds 15 years.
