Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from vineyards near Rajo in San Polo di Piave, in northern Italy close to the Piave River. The vineyards lie 30 m above sea level on clay and sandy soils, with gravel in some areas, and are planted at a density of 2,800 vines/ha.
Grapes
The wine is made from selected Glera grapes.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested fully ripe in mid-September. After pressing, the first fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks. Yeast is then added to the must to initiate a second fermentation. The wine is subsequently stabilized and microfiltered before bottling.
Ageing
After bottling, the wine matures for 30 days in the winery’s cellars.
Label / history
In ancient times, the word Rajo meant “Paradise.” The estate includes a church bearing an image of the Madonna del Carmine and the ruins of a monastery built in 1507. The Cecchetto and Giol families planted vineyards on previously unused land in 1960; in 1972, the estate passed entirely to the Cecchetto family. The modern winery’s exterior follows the traditional architectural style of the Piave area.
