Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow on the steep "Buchholz" site, 440–500 m above sea level, overlooking the town of Salorno. The sun warms the grapes slowly, which helps the wine develop elegance, a delicate structure and freshness.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and gently pressed. Maceration lasts 10–14 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine ages 12 months in barriques, followed by 3 months in bottle, which gives it a silky texture and balanced complexity.
Tasting profile
Deep aromas and refined Pinot Nero fruit character. Fruity notes, gentle spice and subtle minerality. Silky texture, balanced complexity, and a clean, expressive character.
Serving and pairing
Pairs with steak, game dishes, mushroom pasta and aged cheeses.
Label / history
The label tells the story of Perkeo, court jester and cupbearer to Elector Philip von der Pfalz. According to legend, the diminutive man from Salorno could drain a huge barrel in a single sitting. When his doctor advised him to drink water, he dropped dead after his very first sip.
