Vineyard and terroir
Cignale comes from a 4-hectare vineyard situated at 490–520 metres above sea level. The vines are trained to spurred cordon at a density of 5,500 plants per hectare.
Grapes
Approximately 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot.
Vinification
Fermentation lasts approximately 20 days at 28°C.
Ageing
The wine matures for at least 36 months.
Technical data
IGT Colli della Toscana Centrale. Alcohol: 14.00%. Average production is 12,000 bottles. The first vintage was 1986, and the stated ageing potential is 20–25 years.
Tasting profile
A very deep ruby-red wine with an elegant, well-structured profile. Red-fruit aromas are joined by characteristic humus notes and a balsamic nuance that develops towards pine. The palate is full-bodied, with substantial yet velvety tannins.

Pair with roasted meats and aged cheeses.
