Vineyard and terroir

The wine comes from a 3.5-hectare vineyard with south to southeast exposure, situated at 390–430 m above sea level. The vines are trained to spurred cordon at a density of 6,500 plants per hectare.

Grapes

65% Sangiovese and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vinification

Fermentation lasts approximately 20 days at 28°C.

Ageing

Maturation lasts at least 36 months, including approximately 24 months in wood, followed by no less than six months of refinement in bottle.

Technical data

IGT Colli della Toscana Centrale. Alcohol: 14%. Average production is 10,000 bottles. The first vintage was 1985, and the stated ageing potential is 20–25 years.

Tasting profile

An intense ruby-red wine showing red-fruit aromas with subtle herbal nuances. Elegant tannins lead into a long, balanced finish.
