Ageing
Two years in 225- and 300-litre barrels, then a further 6 months in bottle before release.
Vintage notes
The 2017 growing season was challenging for Tuscan winegrowers, with both frost and unusually severe drought. Low temperatures in April mainly affected vines in the valleys. The greatest test was a spell of heat reaching 40 °C that lasted several days and became popularly known as Lucifer. The heat caused drought and destroyed part of the crop, so yields were much lower than usual, although the grapes were of good quality. Tuscan wines from 2017 are known for the intensity and concentration of aroma and flavour typical of a hot year.
