Vineyard and terroir
The Merlot comes from vineyards in the southwestern part of the Ceralti estate. The estate has around 9 ha of vineyards, including 1 ha reserved for experimental winemaking, and periodically selects its vines. The grapes are harvested by hand using traditional methods and then hand-sorted.
Vinification
The must undergoes maceration at a controlled temperature, followed by malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels.
Ageing
The wine matures for 18 months in the same French oak barrels, followed by a further year in bottle.
Label / history
The Ceralti estate has belonged to an old Italian family for several generations. It is now owned by Walter Alfeo and his son Iacopo.
