Label / history

The Ceste family’s winemaking history began in the early nineteenth century. Giovanni Ceste (1871–1929), formerly a sharecropper for a local marquis, bought a farm and began cultivating Barbera. His son Guido continued the family business.

Guido’s son Franco Ceste joined him after completing his studies in Alessandria in the late 1960s. With his family’s support, Franco began making wine independently in 1965 while conducting research, developing the family vineyards, acquiring land and planting new vines. As the business expanded, he was among the first producers to promote his wines beyond Piemonte.

Since the early 1990s, Ceste has cultivated international grape varieties while continuing Piemonte’s established winemaking traditions. Franco now works alongside his son Pierguido, and the family has recently acquired additional land.
