Vineyard and terroir
The Pinot Grigio is grown in vineyards near Venice and harvested at optimal ripeness.
The Contarini estate lies in Eastern Veneto, in the historic winemaking area of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. Its vineyards cover 12 hectares. The Alps shelter them from cold northern winds, breezes from the Adriatic Sea bring warmth, and the soil helps the grapes develop rich flavours and aromas. Contarini also holds long-term contracts with growers in the region who together own 1,500 hectares of vineyards.
Vinification
The must is vinified by a traditional white-wine method.
Tasting profile
Semi-dry, with a smooth, silky texture, fresh acidity and gently sweet fruit notes.
Serving and pairing
Suited to Italian dishes, mild cheeses and appetisers.
Label / history
Contarini is known for Spumante and Prosecco, which it makes by combining long-established sparkling-wine expertise with modern technology.
