Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from the historical area of Villa de la Croce in Montalcino, at 520 m a.s.l. Vineyard yield is given as 7 q/ha.

Grapes

100% Sangiovese Grosso. The grapes undergo strict selection and are harvested by hand.

Vinification

The variety is vinified alone at controlled temperature, with approximately 20 days of maceration.

Ageing

The wine matures for at least 36 months in 25 hL oak barrels, followed by no less than eight months in bottle.

Tasting profile

Very intense ruby red. The powerful, complex bouquet combines pronounced tannic character with vanilla, liquorice and assertive spice. The palate is dry, soft and harmonious, with persistence, a full and elegant structure, and dominant yet velvety noble tannins.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16°C with red meat, grilled meat, game or mature cheeses. Its structure also suits contemplative drinking and convivial occasions.
