Vineyard and terroir
Riesling is grown in the typical Langhe production area at 420–480 m a.s.l. The Guyot-trained vineyards face east to south-east and stand on limestone-and-clay soils. The local microclimate and sometimes mountain-like landscape provide the setting for a dry white combining the complexity and harmony associated with the Langhe hills.
Grapes
100% Riesling.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in the first half of September. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks at 17°C for approximately 20 days.
Ageing
The wine remains on fine lees in stainless-steel tanks, with frequent bâtonnage.
Tasting profile
Intense, bright straw yellow with greenish reflections. The profile combines fruit recalling apricot, peach, plum and tropical fruit with citrus, white-flower and varietal notes. More assertive mineral aromas may emerge with time. The palate is soft yet pleasantly fresh, with marked savouriness, personality and a persistent finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 8–10°C. Pair with boiled or grilled fish, white meats, radicchio risotto and vegetable-based pasta dishes. Persistent and soft in youth, its freshness supports long ageing.
Label / history
The wine reflects Dosio’s longstanding interest in international grape varieties and its aim of expressing Riesling through the Langhe’s microclimate and hill landscape.
