Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow on the volcanic soils of Monte Vulture, with patches of clay, at 650 m above sea level on south- and southeast-facing slopes. The climate is continental, with cool nights and warm summers, which preserves fresh acidity and berry aromas and gives the wine a subtle, firm mineral edge. The vines are young, contributing bright fruit and a light, easy-drinking character. Viticulture follows an environmentally responsible approach. The vineyards belong not to the company but to neighbouring farmers in the commune of Barile.
Grapes
The blend is 80% Aglianico and 20% Primitivo, together with other local red varieties. Aglianico brings freshness, natural acidity, a distinctive berry and mineral character, and a gentle grip that keeps the wine balanced. Primitivo adds softness, body and ripe red berry notes, giving a rounder feel. The local red varieties broaden the aromatic range and highlight the character of the terroir.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in mid-September. To preserve aromas and freshness they undergo one day of cold maceration, are gently pressed and are fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine is naturally stabilised at 5 °C for about a month.
Ageing
The wine ages for 2 months in stainless steel tanks, then rests a further 2 months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Light, bright and lively, with fresh acidity, berry and mineral character and ripe red berry notes. Harmonious and balanced, with a clean, refreshing taste.

Label / history
Elena Fucci launched the "Verha" project in 2022 to offer fresh, approachable wines for everyday enjoyment while preserving the expression of the local area and its terroir. Before the COVID pandemic, the Barile farmers sold their grapes to private buyers, mainly from Campania, who made their own wine in a "garagiste" style. During and after the pandemic those buyers stopped operating, leaving the farmers unsure where to sell. To support local viticulture and save these plots, the vineyards were purchased and a new project was developed, focused on wine quality and care for the terroir. "Verha" means "wine" in the Arbëresh dialect, spoken by descendants of the Albanian community that settled in Barile in the XV century. The name reflects the brand's link to local culture, history and winemaking traditions, and Elena Fucci's own roots.
