Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit is hand-picked from the estate’s oldest plot, where 70-year-old vines grow at high elevation at the foot of the extinct Monte Vulture volcano. Volcanic soils and pronounced shifts between daytime and nighttime temperatures shape the site’s microclimate. The mature vines give very low yields of concentrated fruit.
Vinification
Whole berries undergo alcoholic fermentation in stainless-steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place in French oak barriques.
Ageing
The wine matures for 24 months in French oak barriques, half of which are new, followed by 12 months in bottle. The oak contributes subtle woody and spicy notes, while bottle ageing softens the tannins and harmonises the structure.
Tasting profile
Concentrated, refined and deeply expressive, the wine combines density and depth with richness, a mineral edge and a deep, almost saline note. It remains lean, fresh and energetic rather than heavy. The texture is soft and silky, with natural acidity providing balance.
Label / history
Production in 2020 amounted to only two barrels.
