Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
Produced from estate-grown grapes cultivated on the slopes of Monte Calisio, northeast of Trento. The Moncalisse estate lies at 600 metres above sea level and comprises twelve hectares of vineyards. Geological diversity and a cool alpine microclimate define the site. Strong differences between daytime and nighttime temperatures are encouraged by currents from the surrounding mountains and a gentle southwesterly afternoon breeze. Nearby Lake Caldonazzo moderates winter temperatures and helps protect the vines from frost. Viticulture follows an approach centred on sustainability and the preservation of biodiversity.
Vinification
The wine is made by Metodo Classico. Fermentation takes place 80% in stainless steel and 20% in used French oak barriques.
Ageing
Bottle ageing on the lees lasts 56 months.
Tasting profile
Fresh finesse is joined by structure and depth, with an overall profile of clarity and precision.
Label / history
Moncalisse was founded in 2016 by Julia and Karoline Walch as an independent estate devoted to Metodo Classico Trentodoc. Millesimato Extra Brut Riserva 2019 was one of the estate's two debut wines.
