Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The wine comes from the historic one-hectare parcel at the heart of the Moncalisse estate on the slopes of Monte Calisio, northeast of Trento. The south-facing site is planted with old, deep-rooted Chardonnay vines, preserved in the traditional Pergola training system. The estate lies at 600 metres above sea level and combines geological diversity with a cool alpine microclimate. Strong differences between daytime and nighttime temperatures are encouraged by currents from the surrounding mountains and a gentle southwesterly afternoon breeze. Nearby Lake Caldonazzo moderates winter temperatures and helps protect the vines from frost. Viticulture follows an approach centred on sustainability and the preservation of biodiversity.
Grapes

Label / history
Moncalisse was founded in 2016 by Julia and Karoline Walch as an independent estate dedicated to Metodo Classico Trentodoc. Montis Arcentarie was one of its two debut wines. Its name pays homage to the silver mines of Monte Calisio, which shaped the area during the Middle Ages.
