Vineyard and terroir
The "Le Pievi" vineyard lies 50 metres above sea level and faces southwest. Its sedimentary clay soils and abundant sunshine produce high-quality grapes while preserving the freshness they need.
Grapes
The blend is based on Merlot, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Syrah.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand from late August to late September, once fully ripe. They are fermented exclusively in concrete tanks with natural yeasts. Each variety ferments for around 2 weeks, with the cap punched down by hand throughout. After racking and malolactic fermentation, the varieties are blended.
Ageing
The blend returns to unglazed concrete tanks, where the varieties mature together as a single wine until the end of the year. After bottling, the wine rests for at least 6 months so that its structure comes together and becomes harmonious.
Tasting profile
Classic Bolgheri character, with soft, juicy fruit. Light and easy to drink, yet with plenty of depth and complexity. The site gives it a bright, expressive character, combining juicy fruit, softness and the distinctive style of the region.
Label / history
This was the cuvée that marked the beginning of Fabio Motta's career as an independent winemaker. It still reflects his personal style and attention to detail.
