Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from vineyards with a northeastern exposure.
Grapes
Up to 5% Ancellotta may be added to the Sangiovese.
Vinification
After harvest, the grapes are sorted and macerated in stainless-steel tanks for 15–21 days.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months in French oak barrels, 20% of them new.
Label / history
Pietramora means “black stone” and takes its name from the highest hill in Emilia. First released in 1985, it has subsequently been produced only in selected vintages. Since the 2011 vintage, the label has named Marzeno, the vineyard’s subzone, following changes to the official specification.
