Vineyard and terroir
Gewürztraminer grows on Guyot-trained vines at elevations between 350 and 650 metres, with southwest exposure. The deep clay soils contain abundant coarse material, including a high proportion of pebbles.
Grapes
Gewürztraminer.
Vinification
After brief skin contact, the must ferments at low temperature in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine matures on its lees for approximately six months with frequent bâtonnage before bottling. Full development comes only after several additional months in bottle.
Technical data
Yield: 50 hl/ha. The wine page gives production as 40,000–45,000 bottles, while the technical sheet gives 35,000–40,000. Recommended serving temperature: 14–16 °C.
Tasting profile
Intense golden yellow. The deep, complex bouquet combines lychee, orange peel, clove, nutmeg and rose. A brief rest in the glass allows the aromas to open. The palate is full and stimulating, balancing structure, freshness and vivacity, with a lightly bitter and notably persistent finish.
Serving and pairing
Allow the wine to rest briefly in the glass. Pair with liver pâté, grilled white meats, shellfish or a range of Asian dishes.
