Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from 42-year-old vines in the Vigna Valmaggiore cru at Vezza d'Alba. The vineyard has a south-west exposure and sandy soils. In contrast to the limestone sites of the Langhe, these conditions give the wine a light, graceful character while supporting good tannic structure from its first years in bottle. Yields are limited to 45 hl/ha.
The plot is not owned by Bruno Giacosa. Its grapes are purchased from growers under a long-term contract, with their quality closely monitored by the producer.
Vinification
Maceration and fermentation take place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months in oak barrels and then rests for two months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Light and graceful in character, with good tannic structure even during its first years after bottling.
