Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The Carricante comes from old bush-trained vines on Mount Etna, at 560–850 metres above sea level. The vineyards have a northern exposure and black volcanic pumice soils. The elevation and exposure contribute structure and fruit character, while the soils impart minerality.
Grapes
The range places particular emphasis on ethnographic selection.
Vinification
The must ferments in stainless-steel tanks for 20 days.
Ageing
The wine spends six months on the lees, followed by ten months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Structured and mineral, with pronounced fruit character, harmony and balance.
Label / history
Carlo Ferrini’s affection for Mount Etna inspired the wine. Podere Giodo is family-owned and led by Ferrini and his daughter Bianca. The name “Alberelli,” meaning “bush vines,” refers to the ancient Sicilian practice of training vines low to the ground and reflects the traditional alberello training method.
