Vineyard and terroir
The selected fruit comes from the Vigna Merenda vineyard in the heart of Sarmassa. The vines stand at 250–300 metres above sea level on clay and limestone soils and are 15–25 years old.
Grapes

Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand, usually between the last week of September and the first half of October. Maceration on the skins lasts 30–50 days.
Ageing
The wine matures for 30 months in 25 hL Slavonian oak casks, followed by a further 36 months in bottle in the winery’s cellars.
Label / history
The first vintage was released in 1978. Annual production is limited to 5,500 bottles.
