Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes entirely from Guerrieri Rizzardi’s organically farmed vineyards at the Costeggiola and Casale estates in Soave. The vineyards lie on south-facing hills with volcanic soils and have planting densities of 2,500–4,500 vines per hectare. Each appellation owned by the family has a dedicated winemaking cellar.
Vinification
After harvest, the grapes are destemmed and pressed. Fermentation takes place in cement vats at 15–16 °C.
Ageing
The wine remains on its lees in steel tanks and ceramic vats for three to six months.
Label / history
Soave takes its name from the town where these vineyards are located. The winery was formed through the union of the Counts Guerrieri and Counts Rizzardi, two Veronese wine-producing families. The Rizzardi family acquired vineyards in Negrar in 1678 and built the Pojega cellar soon afterward. The Guerrieri family’s Soave estate, including vineyards and a cellar at Costeggiola, was purchased in 1970. Guerrieri Rizzardi remains a Rizzardi family business, with vineyards in the Classico areas of Bardolino, Valpolicella, Soave and Valdadige.
