Vineyard and terroir

The organically farmed vineyards lie at around 200 metres above sea level.

Vinification

The grapes were hand-harvested into small 10 kg crates, then cooled to 5 °C, destemmed and optically sorted. Following gentle crushing, alcoholic fermentation took place in concrete vats at a controlled temperature of 25–28 °C.

Ageing

The wine rested for 10 months in truncated cone-shaped oak casks. It was then filtered and bottled before maturing for a further two months in the winery’s cellars.

Tasting profile

The wine combines Sangiovese’s elegance with the structure and spicy notes of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vintage notes

The 2020 season began with a dry, warm winter and temperatures that were relatively high for the time of year. These conditions continued through spring until May, when heavy downpours began and persisted into June. Truly hot weather followed. A small amount of rain in early September preceded a fairly early harvest of excellent-quality grapes.
