Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from Località Il Poggiolo in Montalcino, at 450 metres above sea level. Sangiovese grows in sandy-loam soil containing clay and abundant galestro stones, while Chardonnay is planted on red soils with a good mineral presence.
Grapes
A blend of Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello) and Chardonnay. The proportions vary: after maturation, Chardonnay represents 40–60% of the final blend.
Vinification
Chardonnay ferments in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks in contact with its skins. The Sangiovese is destemmed and pressed to separate the skins and pulp from the liquid; the liquid then ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel.
Ageing
The Chardonnay matures for at least eight months in stainless steel, while the Sangiovese ages in French oak tonneaux. After a period ranging from eight months to one year, the components are blended and bottled.
Technical data
Toscana Bianco IGT. Alcohol: 13%.
Tasting profile
Amber yellow in colour, with aromas of white flowers and a pronounced mineral character. The finish brings almond notes associated with Sangiovese.
