Vineyard and terroir
The Montepulciano grows on fertile hillsides in Abruzzo, in the central Apennine Peninsula beside the Adriatic Sea. The vineyards are trained in the traditional tendone system on high frames spaced 3 m × 3 m.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in mid-September, selected and pressed. The juice remains with the pulp for around 15 hours at a low temperature to draw out the variety's aromas.
