Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow in the steeply sloping "Kofl" vineyard, at 450–600 metres above sea level. The site lies close to the western mountain ridge, which brings an early sunset. Evening winds in autumn cool the delicate grapes considerably. The soil has a high limestone content and is porous and rich in dolomite, which makes it an ideal terroir for Sauvignon Blanc.
Vinification
The wine undergoes a very short maceration, then ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.
Ageing
It is aged on its lees for 12 months in large oak barrels and concrete tanks.
Label / history
In the German spoken in the Alpine region, "Kofl" means "mountain hill".
