Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from Tenuta La Solatìa, near the medieval village of Monteriggioni and close to Siena. The vineyards stand at 190–250 m above sea level on loam-silt-clay soils rich in limestone and containing travertine.
Grapes
100% Pinot Grigio.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and cooled before being gently pressed. Alcoholic fermentation takes place partly in stainless-steel vats and partly in ceramic amphoras.
Ageing
The wine matures for five months on its fine lees in stainless steel and ceramic amphoras, with periodic bâtonnage to develop body and roundness. The amphora component preserves the fruit character while contributing additional textural complexity and aromatic concentration.
Tasting profile
Bright straw yellow. Pear and tropical-fruit aromas are joined by floral notes of broom and hawthorn. The palate balances aromatic freshness and breadth, leading to a savoury, persistent finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 8–10 °C with grilled fish or seafood pasta dishes.
Label / history
The first vintage was produced in 2002, following earlier research into the performance of international grape varieties in Tuscany. The wine was conceived as an elegant, versatile interpretation of Pinot Grigio in the Ruffino style.
