Label / history
The Librandi estate was founded in 1950 and is the largest wine estate in Calabria. It is owned by the brothers Antonio and Nicodemo Librandi, and is based in Ciro Marina, on the Ionian coast at the tip of the "boot". The Greeks planted vineyards on the hills around Crimissa, the ancient name for the town of Ciro. Greek writers mention that Crimissa wines were awarded to the winners of the Olympic Games. Milo of Croton, who won six Olympic Games, is said in the text to have drunk only wine from Crimissa's vineyards with his meals.
