Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from vineyards at Sant’Angelo in Colle in Montalcino, at 300–350 m above sea level. The site has a favourable microclimate and porous tuff soils.
Grapes
The wine is made from Sangiovese Grosso.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand into small crates, then sorted, crushed and pressed. Fermentation lasts 18–24 days at 28–30 °C in stainless-steel tanks and enamel-lined concrete vats, with the cap stirred by hand. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is clarified by decanting without filtration.
Ageing
The wine spends six months in large oak casks ranging from 11 to 40 hl. The wines are then blended in steel tanks and bottled, followed by approximately three months of bottle maturation before release.
Tasting profile
The aroma is inviting, while the palate is generous, deep, smooth and classic, with a refined and balanced character.
Vintage notes
The 2022 growing season in Tuscany was hot and dry, requiring additional irrigation to protect young vines. Rain at the end of July improved conditions. Although drought reduced yields, the grapes were concentrated and of high quality. The resulting wines were stronger than usual, with expressive aromas and a rich palate.
