Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from the Casali Godia vineyard in the commune of Corno di Rosazzo. Its clay soils are planted at a density of 4,350 vines per hectare.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested entirely by hand into small boxes and dried for 30 days to concentrate their sugars. They undergo 48 hours of cold skin maceration, followed by clarification through decanting. Fermentation takes place in Allier oak barrels at 18 °C.

Ageing

The wine matures for 11 months in the same Allier oak barrels at a constant temperature, followed by six months in bottle.

Tasting profile

Rich and fruity.

Label / history

The wine takes its name from the vineyard where its grapes are grown.

Azienda Agricola Livon was founded by the Livon family in the early 1960s, when Dorino Livon purchased his first vineyards in the hills of Collio. His sons Valneo and Tonino joined him in the mid-1980s. The family reorganized its vineyards and reduced production to improve fruit quality, introducing short pruning, organic methods, high-density planting, native plants and low yields. It also built three large cellars to support its winemaking.

Between 1992 and 1997, the family acquired Villa Chiopris and Tenuta Roncalto in Friuli and Borgo Salcetino in the Chianti Classico area of Tuscany. It purchased Fattoria Col santo in the Montefalco area in 2001. Livon now has more than 200 hectares of vineyards and produces five brands classified as classic, Cru and Grand Cru wines.
