Vineyard and terroir
The small family estate farms just over three hectares close to its home and cellar in Borgata Pozzo. Its vineyards are distributed between the MGAs Rocche dell’Annunziata and Annunziata in La Morra.
Vinification
Barolo is produced through selection in the vineyard, an approach Lorenzo Accomasso pioneered locally while remaining faithful to practices established during the 1960s. The vines were short-pruned, and green bunches were dropped during August to restrict the crop. In the cellar, the wine undergoes a long maceration of 40 days or more, following the method taught by Lorenzo’s father, Giovanni.
Ageing
The long maceration makes the wine mature slowly. Bottling therefore takes place, on average, one year later than at other local estates, giving the Barolo additional time to develop complexity and depth and preparing it for prolonged ageing.
Label / history
Lorenzo Accomasso made his first public appearance in 1966 during the village festivities in La Morra, presenting a Barolo from the 1958 vintage. By January 2023, he had completed 65 harvests. The estate remains family-run, with Lorenzo Accomasso joined by his grandson, Lorenzo Jr.
