Questo vino

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from Guardia Sanframondi, Castelvenere and San Lorenzo Maggiore in the Sannio area of Benevento. The wider vineyard setting is volcanic, with tuff, volcanic ash and limestone. The mature vines are trained to double Guyot at densities ranging from 2,400 to 3,000 plants per hectare. Montevetrano does not grow these varieties in its own estate vineyards.

Grapes

A selection of Fiano and Greco.

Vinification

Both varieties undergo cryomaceration. Because Fiano and Greco ripen at different times, alcoholic fermentation is conducted separately. The components are blended after fermentation.

Ageing

The assembled wine matures on fine lees for 7–8 months with weekly bâtonnage, followed by four months of bottle refinement.

Technical data

Campania Bianco IGT. Alcohol: 13.5%.

Tasting profile

The 2020 vintage opens with floral and fruit aromas. It has substantial structure and extends with vibrant, savoury freshness, accompanied by precise yellow-peach and citrus notes. The broader description presents a fresh, mineral wine with balanced acidity, floral notes, citrus and white peach, aromatic complexity and a rosemary undertone. Its density broadens into a soft texture and a savoury finish.

Label / history

First produced in 2015, Core Bianco followed Core Rosso as the white expression of the Core range and was conceived to represent Campania through local varieties. “Core” means love in Neapolitan dialect and centre or essence in English. The 2019 vintage was the first to receive Gambero Rosso’s highest three-glass recognition.
