Ageing
Maturation lasts 10 months in new 225 L barriques made from Nevers, Allier and Tronçais oak, followed by four months in bottle.
Technical data
Campania Aglianico IGT. Alcohol: 13.5%.
Tasting profile
The 2017 vintage is fresh and intact, with balanced acidity. Liquorice and cherry lead the nose, followed by light mineral accents, grilled herbs and blackberry. A second published assessment describes sweet violet, white smoke, crushed blackberry and cherry over dark earth tones. The palate is silky, with polished black fruit, savoury herbs and minerals; the medium-length finish carries dark fruit, spice and fine, gripping tannins.
Label / history
Core Rosso was introduced to celebrate twenty years of Montevetrano. Its name carries two meanings: “love” in Neapolitan dialect and “centre” or “essence” in English. Beginning with the 2017 vintage, Core Rosso and Core Bianco adopted Burgundy-shaped bottles and a redesigned label with a larger, immediately legible “Core” identity.
