Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie at Tenuta Moraia in the Tuscan Maremma, near Gavorrano and the Gulf of Follonica, where they are influenced by sea breezes. Grey, blue and red clays are interspersed with limestone and limestone conglomerates, forming the soil in which Vermentino grows.
Grapes
Vermentino.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in mid-September once the skins have reached full ripeness. Crushing and destemming are followed by approximately six hours of skin cryomaceration at 5–8 °C. This cold contact extracts primary fruit aromas and contributes a light tannic touch. Fermentation then proceeds at a controlled 16 °C.
Ageing
The wine undergoes bâtonnage for five months. Bottling takes place at least six months before release.
Technical data
Alcohol: 12.5% vol. Bottle format: 0.75 L.
Tasting profile
The bouquet combines citrus, anise, ginger and pineapple with honey, aromatic herbs and balsamic nuances. The palate is soft, harmonious, fresh and lively, echoing the complex fruit profile. A long finish brings savoury and marine notes.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 12 °C. Pair with grilled fish, shellfish, risotto or poultry.
Label / history
The name recalls the Latin albus, denoting brightness or brilliance and, by extension, the first light of dawn. It forms a deliberate contrast with Vesper, Tenuta Moraia’s Maremma Toscana Riserva Rosso, whose name evokes evening.
