Vineyard and terroir
Incrocio Manzoni and Nebbiolo grow in loose, sandy soils in the Treviso region, while Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay are cultivated in the commune of Teglio. Nino Negri’s vineyards range from 300 to 1,000 m above sea level and have favourable exposure that aids ripening. The estate covers 34 ha, of which 11 ha are being planted with young vines.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand. Selected Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Incrocio Manzoni grapes are dried until the Nebbiolo is picked. All varieties are vinified without their skins, then gently pressed and undergo alcoholic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine matures for approximately eight months in a combination of new and previously used French oak barrels, with bâtonnage every six days. It is then blended and bottled.
Label / history
Nino Negri was founded in 1897 and is one of Lombardy’s oldest wineries.
