Vineyard and terroir
Nino Negri’s vineyards cover 34 hectares at altitudes of 300–1,000 metres. Their favourable exposure assists ripening. Eleven hectares are used for planting young vineyards.
Vinification
The grapes were harvested in the second half of September, dried naturally for three months and then pressed. Maceration lasted 16 days under controlled temperature conditions. The wine then rested briefly in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
Maturation lasted 30 months in 32 and 52 hL French oak barrels.
Tasting profile
The aroma is complex and distinctly spicy. The palate is warm, balanced and elegant, with notes of hazelnut and liquorice.
Vintage notes
The winter of 2010 was relatively warm and snowy. Early spring was cold, with temperatures returning to seasonal norms by the end of March. June and July were hot, while August brought sharp temperature changes. Heavy September rain caused the loss of part of the crop; the remaining grapes required extra care during harvest.
Label / history
The wine belonged to the Grandi Selezioni range, which comprised 12 Nino Negri wines. The winery was founded in 1897.
